The order of merit is broken down into two categories monthly and yearly. The monthly order of merit is awarded to the person who has had the best round in that month based on their first 5 rounds played in that month, at the end of each month each player is awarded points based on their best round these points accumulate over the year with the person with the most points at the end of the year taking out the yearly order of merit. The OOM is based on the Stableford format with all Par and Stroke rounds been converted to Stableford scores, your OOM score will posted in the results next to your competition score.
The PGN & MGC Grand Slam is a new initiative similar to the OOM but based on your best score at each of our host courses for our regular weekday comps. The Grand Slam is designed to encourage our members to get out and experience all our club has to offer as well as testing your golfing ability at a wide range of courses and conditions with your best score from each course added together to give your total score.
Set around the four major golf tournaments of the year, The WA majors is a Stableford competition with a four round order of merit over the series. This year features Joondalup, Mt lawley, Royal Fremantle & WAGC. Each event is individual stableford but all scores are put towards the series leader board. ( the series winner must complete a minimum 3 events to qualify)
PGN vs Miners pennants series is an event run during August it is run over four Sundays with PGN members playing against the Miners Golf Club in a Matchplay Format. This event is extremely popular and gives people the opportunity to play matchplay in a competitive environment, there is also a huge rivalry between the two clubs and alot of pride in winning the flag.
Looking for bragging rights there is no better way than becoming the Club Champion. Players are graded based on there handicap into one of four grades A,B,C or D this is based on your GA handicap at the commencement of your first round. There are prizes in every grade with the club champion being the person with the best gross score.
PGN also runs a number of trips every year these trips are local, interstate and overseas some of the places we have traveled to include China, Malaysia, Sydney, Kalgoorlie, Albany. This year we are heading to New Zealand, Albany and Kalgoorlie. We are always looking at new places to visit with King Island(tassie), Melbourne, Thailand and even the UK on the list of possible trips.
Played in early March the Tin Cup is played annually at Meadow Springs Country Club, currently in its 9th year the event is a great way to start off your golfing year. The event is a 2ball ambrose event with some great prizes and the coveted Tin Cup for the winner.
An exciting new event to the PGN schedule the Triple Crown is played at 3 of the best 9 hole courses in Perth, Sea View, Nedlands and Mosman Park with competitors completing 9 holes at each courses in one day. The format is individual stableford with some great prizes and includes breakfast, lunch and a presentation dinner.
Get your jumper ready but hopefully not your wet weather gear the Winter Cup is usually played in June and is again another fun event on the PGN calender and gives you the opportunity to win the biggest trophy on offer as well as some great prizes, like all events the Winter Cup includes a presentation dinner
As scary as it sounds this event is played from the black tees at two of WA’s toughest golf courses Kennedy Bay and The Cut, the Black Tee Challenge is a great way to test your golfing abilities. This event is always a great weekend with lots of laughs had between playing partners and as always a great trophy to win.
