Joe
Competition Coordinator
Born in Perth, Western Australia (quite a long time ago) Joe has always had a love for sport, which naturally led him to golf. Once golf got its grubby fingers into him, there was no turning back, and he was hooked!
For Joe, the best part of the game is the fun you can have with three other like-minded “fools,” all while challenging yourself and sticking to the rules. It’s that perfect mix of camaraderie, challenge, and enjoyment that keeps him coming back.
Now, Joe enjoys helping out at PGN and playing alongside thousands of fellow enthusiasts, making the game all the more enjoyable.

Doug
Competition Coordinator
Doug is a Competition Coordinator at the Perth Golf Network, bringing a diverse background in healthcare, safety, and a passion for sports and community engagement. Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Doug moved to England at a young age and later came to Australia in 1981 for a working holiday—an adventure that turned into a permanent move, as his three children and seven grandchildren now call Perth home.
Doug qualified as a midwife in 1985 at King Edward Hospital and later expanded his career to work as a Medic and HSE Coordinator, both on and offshore. He also completed a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety in 1987. In retirement, Doug has taken up the role of a volunteer guide on Rottnest Island, offering tours several times a month, while also being an active member of Miners Golf Club and PGN for over 16 years.
In his spare time, Doug loves spending time with his family—who, fortunately, also enjoy spending time with him. An avid wine enthusiast, Doug has around 800 bottles scattered around the house and enjoys being a season ticket holder for both Perth Glory and the Western Force. A lifelong Manchester United fan, Doug has followed the EPL religiously since 1966. He also has a deep passion for golf, despite describing himself as an enthusiastic rather than skilful player.
Doug’s decision to pick up golf stemmed from the wear and tear of soccer and touch rugby, but also from the allure of staying active as he ages, enjoying long walks on the course with friends, and of course, spending plenty of time in the 19th hole.
